A new focus for an experienced teacher brings MagiKats Tutoring to Ryhope!

After over 17 years working with teenagers, Kathryn Mellett was frustrated. She regularly saw students who had not received the support they needed in school, and how this was now affecting their college education. She wanted to find a way in which she could help these students before they reached college – to make sure they had every opportunity to realise their full potential as they worked to gain life skills and good qualifications. So, she chose MagiKats! When asked why MagiKats was her first choice to provide effective support to children and teenagers, Kathryn said: “The MagiKats programme offers fun, structured and affordable tuition which maps directly to the curriculum and can therefore support Key Stages 1 – 4 including preparation for SATs and GCSEs. In my role at Derwentside College and as a mum of two and parent governor, I can see there is a demand for support with English and maths for children both in primary and secondary education, which I believe MagiKats can provide.”

Kathryn’s experience in education means she is really well placed to support kids right through their education. She will be supported by qualified and fully trained mentors, as she establishes her first workshops in Ryhope village. “Having lived in Ryhope as a child, I moved back to the village three years ago,” continued Kathryn. “I love the community spirit and therefore really wanted to start this new venture here. Of course, kids from across the city are welcome to join up too!”

Kathryn has just opened her first maths and English tutoring workshops at St Cuthbert’s Church Hall on Western Hill on Wednesdays and Thursdays. If you would like to find out how she can support your child or teenager, please contact her on 0191 670 6242, or via magikats.co.uk/sunderland-south.
